Job Summary: This position will support LLUMC’s strategic plan and the organization’s mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. The Clinical Nurse C, GI Lab, performs the nursing process independently. Serves as a role model in patient care delivery methods and consistently demonstrates advanced level of clinical practice in high risk and extremely fast-paced environment for adult patients receiving procedures requiring sedation. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of quality patient care in the outpatient and inpatient environment. Functions in a skills mix environment and directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. Follows medical center policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines. Ensures safe patient care by stopping procedures if all aspects of pre-procedural care is not complete and enlists assistance of department leadership and anesthesia as needed. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in adult procedure related sedation and potential complications. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership and supervision; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English (and Spanish preferred) in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform math and statistical functions necessary to the position; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.Completion of Registered Nurse (RN) program required. Minimum of three years of clinical experience in acute adult patient care. Minimum one year of experience in either an acute telemetry unit or a gastroenterology lab required. Minimum three years providing procedure related sedation preferred. Active California Registered Nurse License required. American Heart Association approved Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support Certification (ACLS) required.
