Your Job:Manages all patient care areas in our ICU. Works independently and interdependently with hospital and corporate systems to accomplish efficient, cost-effective, quality patient care. The ICU Nurse Manager will be responsible for the running of the assigned department. They will oversee the patient schedules and ensure staff and equipment is available to provide service to the patients. This position will work in collaboration with the AVP of Academic Clinical Programs to both create and maintain the annual budget. In addition, patient care will be necessary as volume dictates. This position will be responsible for hiring, disciplinary action and yearly reviews for the ICU clinical staff. This position will be responsible as an expert clinical resource for all clinical programs at the hospital. Your Job Requirements:Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSNCPR, ACLSLicensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of TexasAbility to interpret financial reports.Ability to read, write, and speak English with strong writing, spelling and grammatical skillsComputer literate including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.Consistent professional behavior and ability to handle confidential information.Demonstrates the ability to communicate efficiently by Identifying and communicating in a positive/constructive manner.Demonstrates the ability to work in a stressful environment during a crisis situation.Demonstrates initiative is a self-starter, works independently within time frames delegated.Demonstrates an understanding of MHD guidelines and reference, Infection Control guidelines, and MHD safety guidelinesDevelops mechanism by which important and pertinent information is related to appropriate personnel.Listening efficiently and communicating in a positive/constructive manner.Organizes and utilizes time efficiently to complete assignments.Proactive to analyze problems accurately develop recommendations and takes appropriate actions to resolve problems.Promotes good public relations through positive interaction with the patient, visitors, families, and co-workersStrong leadership abilityWork Experience: Two years of hospital nursing experience; Meets Level III managerial criteria or demonstrated comparable achievement in past experience.Your Job Responsibilities :Attends and participates in workshops/seminars/classes related to the practice of nursing and management skills.Coaches and develops the skills and talents of the unit staff, with emphasis on the unit leadership team. Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of clinical and managerial competence.Collaborates with manager of Nursing Education in the responsibility for the actual planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of MHD continuing nursing educational activities.Conducts attends and participates in department and committee meetings.Coordinated the hiring, training, evaluation/counseling and discharge of unit staff.Develops and implements staffing plans.Functions as a consultant/resource on a specified unit to assist with staff/patient/customer needs.Monitors patient care, develops and implements action plans from trends identified.Participates in the planning and implementation of the budget. Monitors and addresses variances with the budget.Plans and organizes the unit activities by developing and monitoring unit goals.Promotes efforts to support and participate in value management (VM), activities both inter and intradepartmental.Other duties as assigned.
