Responsibilities

The NP II provides direct care to patients undergoing inpatient and outpatient cardiac procedures, cardiac evaluation, nuclear testing and other office-based procedures in assigned clinic. The NP II will be responsible for supervising Stress Echos, Treadmills, Dobutamine and Bubble Studies as ordered by staff physicians as well as nuclear imaging testing. The NP II will assist nuclear medicine tech with various tests, such as IM medication injections for thyroid scans, IV starts, and IV pump management for Hepatobiliary HIDA gallbladder ejection fraction scans and medication administration for Renal scans. Monitor patients during IV medication administration. Assess for adverse reactions or complications during all procedures and respond appropriately. Order medications, supplies, and maintenance of Emergency Cart for the department. Employee will be required to travel to other offices as needed to perform same duties.

Qualifications

Master degree in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner specialty. 2 yrs. of NP experience required. One year of recent experience including at least six months in the area of specialization, Cardiology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
California RN License and NP license. Current BCLS, ACLS
Ability to perform patient care in an appropriate fashion, depicting all protocols consistent with appropriate diagnostic requirements.
Ability to provide timely information to the physicians (both referring and reading).
Ability to depict lethal diagnostic information that should be considered emergent and communicate with the appropriate entities. Ability to push heavy equipment to do portable studies.
Ability to adhere to infection control initiatives as they pertain to the use of all equipment.
Ability to adhere to policies and standardized procedures that govern practice.
Ability to utilize computer applications to review information consistent and necessary for providing continuity of care (IDX, PCIMS).
Ability to work under considerable pressure and in the modification of ongoing patient care assignment.
Ability to work as a team, taking and giving direction to other team members as appropriate.
